Daily Dare

Black Lipstick?

I am having a hard time coming to terms with this trend even after the inspired show at YSL last fall. I have yet to see black lips make the jump from editorial to street and I can't say I would go crazy for it if I did. It's working for Alice Dellal here. But she is also a girl who can pull the half shaven head look.

So I'm going to have to say no. It's too indicative of who's been kissing who.

Why Don't You?

Why Don't You...
..find a new use for your shoes? I honestly believe the outstanding YSL cage heels could masquerade as a divine birdcage. ..DIY an old little black dress? This would be especially lovely if it was body conscious and minimally short. Be sure to use extremely sharp shears and try some shoulder cutouts? Perhaps snip out two large swatches on the ribcage? If this is too promiscuous for you you could reinforce said holes with a great nude mesh a la Winter Olympics. The possibilities are endlessly fabulous...
..fly to Paris, pop into Colette and purchase the Karl Lagerfeld Bear? I cannot imagine a better thing to stand proudly on my dresser and oversee my many wardrobe changes. I love how even in bear form Karl retains his tension in his lips.

The Model Off Duty

Few things are more chic than the look of a model off duty. I prefer this look above all others, because models understand that key pieces; black skinnies, simple tanks layered with basic tees and a shrunken leather waistcoat are all that is necessary to look appealing and approachable. Dressing should never distract-in fact it should blend so perfectly it appears almost as a uniform. Natasha Poly, Ekat Kiseleva, Raquel Zimmerman and Lindsey Ellingson demonstrate this appeal perfectly.

Alas, these ladies also have the benefit of designer friendship-which often translates to incredible heavy, hardware emblazoned shoes and handbags of the moment-gifted to them by Marc, Frida, or Karl. Lucky girls, just don't be a theif and snatch your YSL shoes off the fall runway without asking. I hear Stefano wants a word with you Chanel. But who could stay angry with her? She is young, and kleptomania for style's sake is an admirable crime.
